Snowstorm Survival Tips

There are a few magical days each year here in the Northeast U.S. when snow forces us inside all day. Even if we spend days off indoors occasionally, snow days feel different. Everything seems to move more slowly, including ourselves.

Here are my snowstorm survival tips to keep you from going stir-crazy and help you enjoy the magic of the snow day:

1. Lower your expectations on what you will accomplish on snow days. You may be tempted to catch up on household chores, but it’s a great day to ditch the to-do list.

2. Drink and eat lots of warming drinks and foods. Drinking lots of warm water will help combat dehydration and dry skin. Warming winter foods like chili or stew will keep you nourished from the inside out.

3. Have one fun activity planned, such as baking a treat or a movie-at-home date.

If you’re looking for a fun activity, try making your own Fire Cider.

Fire Cider is an herbal remedy that supports your immune system and is simple and easy to make. In fact you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen already.

Here’s a video of me demonstrating how to make Fire Cider. I also talk more about what it’s good for.

After you’ve shoveled and played in the snow, come in and warm up and watch how to make this healing herbal remedy.

Nothing is forever. Enjoy the snow!
