What you eat doesn’t matter.

Hear me out.

If you’re in survival mode, what you eat, the supplements or herbs that you take, does not matter. You’re too busy trying to figure out where you’re going to sleep tonight, or how your children will get their next meal.

What people don’t realize is that ‘survival mode’ and living a life you do not enjoy have a very similar effect on your system. If you’re in a job or relationship that is making you miserable, then what you eat doesn’t matter.

Don’t be so quick to blame your problems on what you ate. Obsessing about what’s “healthy” can feel like you’re in control of some part of your life. But your body knows when you’re lying to yourself.

If tiredness, a nagging pain or discomfort become everyday occurrences, then your body is trying to tell you something. Maybe it’s literally tired of showing up to your life! The good news is the body also knows when you are being authentic, and leading a life true to who you are.

Change doesn’t happen overnight, so start by zooming out for a moment and ask yourself:

  • What (or who) drains my energy?

  • What can I shift to reduce or eliminate these things?

  • What brings me joy?

  • How can I bring more of this into my everyday?

  • Small steps can lead to big changes.

Most often the first step is to simply listen to yourself. You (and your body) are more intelligent than you give yourself credit for.

I share this because I get a lot of questions about food and “healthy” eating. Seasonal eating has been so helpful for me and many of my clients, and I love to share recipes.

But none of this really matters if you’re struggling to feel safe at home, grieving the loss of a loved one, or fighting for your life. If that’s you, I see you, and am sending so much love and healing for your journey.
