You can eat anything.
You can eat anything as long as you can digest it.
You could eat a rock if you wanted to, but it would be hard to digest. Most people wouldn’t argue this. And yet we argue about other foods, whether this or that is “good” for you. But none of this explains why I love a juicy ripe tomato in summer and it makes my friend ill. Or why I love warm milk in my chai in the morning, but if I eat ice cream at night, I wake up sluggish and flemmy.
People digest foods differently. AND it’s not only the ingredients themselves that determine how well you will digest it.
There are so many things to consider:
🌱 where was the food grown?
🚗 how far did it travel to get to you?
❄️ what time of year is it where you live?
👩🍳 who cooked it?
🥘 how was it prepared?
🍇 what else is it mixed with?
🍦 what else are you eating or drinking with it?
🕰 what time of day is it when you eat?
🏃♀️ what activity have you done already and do you plan to do later?
So many questions!
The truth: food that is well-cooked, well-spiced, locally grown, seasonal and cooked by you is the easiest to digest.
So what are you cooking this week?
